It's hard for me to go to the theater.

Alright here's the deal. I live in a rural community that is trying to catch up with the rest of the world when it comes to being on the "cutting edge". We aren't quite stone age here, but our theater is a first class original. We can fit what fells like 50 people in one of the 6 screens we have. Wow! Our theater then takes it to the next level when the latest show starts at around 8:30 pm. Now that is living on the wild side. Once you get in and realize that they just tried to paint over everything to try to make it look new you realize that you are in Pleasentville and mad as hell about it.

I have to admit that I try to stay away from this theater. I have only seen 4 movies there and I felt like I was getting hustled every time. It's pretty bad when the picture/sound in your home is better then what they charge you for. What I really enjoyed was when Barney Fife would be in the projector room trying to get the movie to play and doing a better job of making a shadow puppet show.

Someone must have gave up some major poon, because we got the sneak peek of the Transformers movie here. My buddy asked me to go and I declined. I couldn't. Movies aren't supposed to be watched that way. I need a great picture and solid sound to solidify the experience. If I would have went I know I would have been saying, "Wow that was a great movie, but I wonder if it looked/sounded any good?", and I would probably have to see it again.

Thankfully about 30 minutes away from here we have a nicer theater, that has the HD screens. That is where I saw 300. If I would have had to watch 300 at the crap theater that we have here I would've went Sparta on someone. Thank goodness it didn't come to that.

All in all I can't go to the theater anymore. I have an HD TV with a decent surround sound. I know how to make popcorn and it's damn good too. Maybe one day the cinema gods will come and bless us with the theater that we deserve, but until that day comes I'll be here watching at home blogging about how bad things really are.

Yeah, I drive 20 miles out of my way to go to the mega theater. The 3 theaters close to my house are terrible, small screens, terrible sound and the movies always look faded.

The mega theater has large screens, nice sound and the movies that are shown look great with the DLP projectors they have. Plus, on Saturday they always have at least two movies playing at midnight.
